Energy management can help minimise energy use, reduce costs and make a difference for pupils and students.
There are 180,000 full and part time students in third level education alone. The challenge is to reduce energy-consumption per student, and create an environment that instils in future decision makers the need to manage resources sustainably.
Many schools, universities and institutes of technology (IOTs) are already taking action to cut energy use, both individually and by combining forces. SEAI provide advice and support, at no direct cost – all that’s required is a commitment to energy efficiency.
Public sector educational facilities are also required to display building energy rating certificates.
