Monitoring & Targeting
M&T is a disciplined approach to energy management which ensures that energy resources are used to the maximum economic advantage. It is the collection, interpretation and reporting of information on energy use with a view to reducing energy consumption and associated costs. It is a simple but powerful technique which helps to identify waste and provides strong motivation for improved energy/waste management.
Sites using M&T have achieved savings representing 5 and 25% of their annual fuel bill. The important feature of this is that they have been achieved with little or no capital investment. Savings have resulted from improved operating practices, plant adjustments, operator training etc.
Computer aided M&T is an M&T system that uses a computer for the storage and analysis of data. A computer is not essential for M&T but, obviously aids the management of data on a large system.
